A new permanent exhibition focusing on Mediterranean food and foodways will be proposed at the MUCEM museum in Marseilles from 2020 onwards.

The workshop "Mediterranean food, historical analyses and museum issues" is organized in this perspective.

The 12th AIECM3 conference will take place in Athens on 21rst - 27th October 2018.

The Congress is organized by the Department of Archaeology and the History of Art of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens with the participation of the National Hellenic Research Foundation (Institute of Historical Research), the French School at Athens and the Centre for the Study of Modern Ceramics (G. Psaropoulos family Foundation).

Within the rapidly expanding area of research on food and foodways, the medieval eastern Mediterranean is still very much an unexplored area. The aim of the POMEDOR project was to explore this new field in a multidisciplinary way and to stimulate further research. Although the project focused primarily on food and foodways approached through archaeological and archaeometric studies of pottery - from transport amphorae to serving dishes, through food processing utensils, cooking wares, and wares used in food production processes - the conference encompassed a wider field, including historical, archaeozoological, archaeobotanical and anthropological studies.

The 6th Archaeological Meetings of the IFEA (Institut Français d'Etudes Anatoliennes) "Merging Techniques and Cultures. Technological Approaches in Archaeology" will take place on November 24-25 at the Koç Research Center (RCAC). They bring together specialists of various disciplines dealing with different periods, presenting approaches to techniques and "chaînes opératoires" in archaeology to students and researchers. The Institute of Historical Research of the National Hellenic Research Foundation organizes in collaboration with the Istituto per i beni archeologici et monumentali (Basilicata), which will be held in Athens (1- 3 October 2015), an international conference on “Milk and dairy products. Aspects of production and consumption in Mediterranean societies of antiquity and the Middle Ages”. The meeting is inscribed within the project MenSALe / Storie e rappresentazioni della cultura dell'alimentazione regionale; the three volumes of work already carried out will be discussed on the afternoon of 1rst October.
