La confrontation des sources littéraires et des données archéologiques s'avère importante pour essayer de comprendre tout à la fois la mise en place des interdits alimentaires particuliers à une religion, les limites de la mise en pratique des interdits alimentaires et leur évolution dans le temps. Les interdits alimentaires et les restrictions sur la commensalité permettent à différents groupes religieux d’établir une frontière entre « eux » et « nous ». Il existe donc un corpus de textes normatifs appartenant aux droits religieux et civils interdisant la consommation d’aliments particuliers. The international conference « Héritages arabo-islamiques dans l'Europe méditerranéenne - Archéologie, histoire, anthropologie » (September 11-14 2013,  Marseilles (France), Villa Méditerranée and MuCEM), organized by the "Institut national de recherches archéologiques préventives" (INRAP) together with Marseille-Provence 2013-Capitale européenne de la culture, MuCEM and Villa Méditerranée, proposes a special session about dietary habits between the Arabo-Islamic and European worlds (Saturday 14 morning).

This second meeting brought together members of the core POMEDOR group together with new members of the network, especially Cypriot and other colleagues working on Cyprus. We were welcomed at the Leventis municipal Museum of Nicosia by its Director Demetra Papanikola-Bakirtzi.

Yona Waksman gave a general presentation of the POMEDOR project , proposed an update of the issues following the first meeting in Athens, and showed a model of the POMEDOR website and collaborative platform as prepared by Céline Brun and developed by computer sciences student Caroline Castonguay-Boisvert. Le XIXe Colloque du Groupe des Méthodes Pluridisciplinaires Contribuant à l’Archéologie (GMPCA) est organisé par le Centre Michel de Boüard, le laboratoire Géographie physique et Environnement (Géophen LETG) et le service archéologie du Conseil général du Calvados.

Il a lieu tous les deux ans depuis 1977 et il permet de réunir les archéomètres de toutes les disciplines. Il s’organise en plusieurs sessions thématiques (toutes périodes confondues), dont certaines sont introduites par des communications orales. Des exposés plus courts et des posters permettent de présenter des avancées méthodologiques et des applications novatrices particulières.
