The Levantine Ceramic Project – 2015 Workshop 1 Petro-Fabrics and Associated Wares of the Southernmost Levant

The Levantine Ceramics Project ( will hold a workshop at the Albright Institute of Archaeological Research, Jerusalem. The focus of this workshop will be on petro-fabrics and their associated wares. We welcome presentations of material from sites in Lebanon, Israel, the Palestinian Territories, and Jordan. Our goals are to devise a consistent naming system for petro-fabrics, and to build up the LCP web site by adding more, and more detailed, data. In addition to presentations, each session will include discussion and time for uploading information directly to the site.

The LCP is an open, crowd-sourced repository for Levantine ceramics, both new and already published, from the Early Bronze Age through Ottoman times, including petro-fabrics, ceramic wares, individual vessels, petrographic analyses, and kiln sites. Anybody can submit data and anybody can use the site. Our goal is to expand access to information, foster collaborative research, and connect scholars to scholarship. By adding to the LCP’s store of publicly available information, we can help build the site into a tool and a resource for ourselves and future archaeologists.
