LRCW 8 - King Theoderic and the Transformations of the Mediterranean Sea. Production and Trade in Late Roman World
The 8th International Conference on Late Roman Coarse Wares, Cooking Wares and Amphorae in the Mediterranean: Archaeology and Archaeometry (LRCW 8) will be held in Ravenna (20th-24th April 2026). The conference will be organized by the University of Bologna, the Foundation Flaminia and the Foundation Ravennantica, with the patronage of the Municipality of Ravenna.
The aim of the LRCW Conference series is the presentation and publication of Late Roman pottery (3rd century AD to the end of Antiquity) from the Mediterranean region.
The 7th conference proposed the following sessions:
- The Western Mediterranean
- The Eastern Mediterranean
- Mediterranean Islands in the stream
- Late Roman Pottery in Hispania
- Special session: The problem of the 8th century

Residues analysis was carried out on medieval cooking wares from a closed context in Paphos, Cyprus, to see if different food and foodways could be identified in local pots and pans and in cooking wares imported from Frankish Beirut.
