Iryna Teslenko will be hosted by the "Archaeology & Archaeometry" laboratory in Lyon (CNRS UMR5138) during 6 months to carry out her research project "Northern Black Sea from Late Byzantine till Ottoman times: Transformation of Material Culture in a Changing World".
The series of conferences "Jean Pouilloux" organized by the "Maison de l'Orient et de la Méditerranée" (Lyon, France) present results of academic research to a wide audience.
The conference of March 17th 2021, "Chalcis, un hub maritime médiéval en Égée", is proposed by Yona Waksman.
It will be in French and accessible by zoom. Registration is free and mandatory.
A new semi-permanent exhibition (until 31 January 2023) is opening at the MUCEM museum (Marseille) about the Mediterranean diet. It includes contents provided by the POMEDOR program.
... of Shadi Shabo. Shadi was part of the POMEDOR team, in charge of 3D acquisitions of representative examples of pottery studied during the project. He scanned amphorae, of types Günsenin I to IV, in the reference collection of the American excavations in the Athenian Agora, and in storerooms of the Byzantine Ephorate in Chalkida (Greece).

Alessandra is an archaeologist who specializes in organic residues analysis of ceramics and floors, focusing on the understanding of ceramics contents and function, dietary habits, and the use of space. She is a very active member of the POMEDOR network.
She became "Profesora Agregada" at the University of Barcelona, History and Archaeology Department, in the ERAAUB team (Equip de Recerca Arqueològica i Arqueomètrica).
... talks about Byzantine food and gastronomy in the Greek newspaper "TO VIMA".
The volume "Multidisciplinary approaches to food and foodways in the medieval Eastern Mediterranean" will come out this winter.
It contains papers presented at the final conference of the POMEDOR project, as well as the making of and the recipes of the "Byzantine" dinner which was created on the occasion at the Bocuse Institute.

Francine Blondé passed away, on Valentine's day.
Archaeologist and ceramologist specializing in the Greek world, she had been a Belgian member of the French School at Athens, and co-directed several archaeological excavations in Greece, especially in Thasos.
She became a CNRS researcher at the "Maison de l'Orient" in Lyon in 1991, in what was then the "Laboratoire de Céramologie" directed by Maurice Picon, before joining her thasian colleagues Dominique Mulliez and Arthur Muller in Lille in 2005.
She had special interest in craftmanship, especially pottery, and directed several programs on this topic.
